The Oregon Urology Institute Imaging Center gives you and our doctors convenient and comfortable access to advanced imaging technology. Our full-service imaging center offers CT scans and diagnostic X-rays. This means we can do a CT urogram, loopogram, and many other scans at the comfort and convenience of our patients.
Oregon Urology Institute’s on-site Imaging Center often allows for same-day appointments and quick turnaround of results, so your doctor can more quickly prepare your recommended treatment plan.

PREPARE FOR YOUR VISIT
If you’re scheduled for a CT urogram, IVP, or any other imaging exam, click on the links below to learn how to prepare for your visit. If you have any questions, please contact us.
CT ABDOMEN PELVIS
CT ABDOMEN PELVIS = CT ORAL & I.V. CONTRAST PREP (ABD/PEL, RENAL MASS PROTOCOL)
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.
- Patients may have clear liquids, coffee, tea, juice, etc. prior to exam.
- Patients can take their normal medications unless directed otherwise.
- Patients should arrive 1 hour prior to scheduled exam time in order to drink the oral contrast.
CT CHEST
CT CHEST = CT I.V. CONTRAST PREP (UROGRAM/ADRENAL MASS/CHEST/HEAD)
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.
- Patients may have clear liquids, coffee, tea, juice, etc. prior to exam.
- Patients can take their normal medications unless directed otherwise.
CT CHEST ABDOMEN PELVIS
CT CHEST ABDOMEN PELVIS = CT ORAL & I.V. CONTRAST PREP (ABD/PEL, RENAL MASS PROTOCOL)
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.

CT HEAD
CT HEAD = IF CONTRAST IS ORDERED THEN CT I.V. CONTRAST PREP otherwise none.
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.
- Patients can take their normal medications unless directed otherwise.
CT KUB
- Patient to arrive with full bladder.
- If possible, wear clothing with no metal zippers, buttons, etc.
CT MUSCULOSKELETAL
No special prep needed.
CT NECK
CT NECK = CT I.V. CONTRAST PREP (UROGRAM/ADRENAL MASS/CHEST/HEAD)
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.
- Patients can take their normal medications unless directed otherwise.
CT SINUS
No special prep needed.
CT SPINE
No special prep needed.
CT UROGRAM
CT UROGRAM = CT I.V. CONTRAST PREP (UROGRAM/ADRENAL MASS/CHEST/HEAD)
- Nothing to EAT 4 hours prior to exam.
- Drink at least 16 ounces of water starting 2 hours before your exam.
- Patients may have clear liquids, coffee, tea, juice, etc. prior to exam.
- Patients can take their normal medications unless directed otherwise.
IVP
IVP = CLEAR LIQUID PREP
- 2 Dulcolax tablets at 5:00 pm the night before the exam.
- Take any other prescribed medication on schedule.
- Clear liquid dinner the night before the exam, including:
- Jello, Bouillon, Popsicles, Tea, Coffee, Apple/Cranberry juice or Sports drink.
- Clear liquid breakfast OK the day of exam.
- Drink 8 to 16 oz. fluid 1-2 hours before exam time.
LOOPOGRAM
LOOPOGRAM (X-RAY OF UROSTOMY) = PREP INSTRUCTIONS
- Patient must bring extra ostomy supplies for drainage bag replacement.
