Bladder Cancer

The bladder is a muscular organ that stores urine until released. Bladder cancer, often caused by cigarette smoke and toxic chemicals like paints and solvents, typically attacks the bladder lining. Symptoms can include painful or frequent urination or blood in the urine.

Treatment Options

Transurethral resection of the bladder is a common treatment for tumors in the bladder, as well as laser therapy. Intravesical chemotherapy or intravesical immunotherapy may be used to try to prevent tumor recurrences.
